In so doing, Cardinal bounced back into Pac-12 title discussion after losing at Utah previous week. Oregon State scored early and often in road-game romp at California. Beavers' lone loss is 49-46 opening-game defeat to FCS Eastern Washington; OSU has reeled off six straight wins since then. Beavers feature Pac-12's 3rd-rated scoring offense [44.1 points/game] but that could be countered nicely by Stanford's 4th-ranked scoring defense [20.4 points/game]. Cardinal held UCLA to only 10 points last Saturday. Oregon State is 2nd only to in-state rival Oregon in total offense [515.9 yards/game] while Stanford is 4th in total defense [363.4 yards/game]. Cooks averages 10.9 receptions/game, 168 receiving yards/game and 15.5 average yards/catch. Stanford junior TY MONTGOMERY [36-564-5 TD] tops Farm receivers and ranks 8th in Pac-12. Montgomery gives Stanford extra dimension as kick returner; he leads conference with 35.2 average on 18 returns and has two TDs, one coming on opening kickoff vs. Washington.
